Sydney is the biggest city of the country and is located on the south-east coast of Australia. It is the state capital of New South Wales. This dynamic city is the site of the first European colony established in 1788. Sydney is often called ‘the Harbour city’ because it is built around Port Jackson, which includes Sydney Harbour. Port Jackson is the largest natural harbour in the world.  Sydney is not only the most populous city of the country (approx. 4.28 million inhabitants) but is also Australia’s largest financial center, where the Australian Stock Exchange takes place. Sydney is clearly the economic powerhouse of the nation.

Sydney is very popular among tourists who are attracted to its beaches and other natural attractions and to its most famous landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Cultural venues are numerous, as well as beautiful restaurants. Sydney is known as one of the most multicultural cities in the world and attracts lots of migrants to Australia.

You should enjoy sights of Sydney from the harbour, visit darling harbour, the Rocks, the Opera House and the Botanical Gardens. Walk or climb the bridge and visit Bondi Beach, Watsons Bay or Manly.
