The Sunshine State
Queensland is a state of Australia, situated on the north-eastern corner of the country. This state is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. With a surface of more than 1.7 million square kilometres, Queensland is Australia’s second largest state (after Western Australia). Its population of more than 4 million people makes it the third most populous state of the country. The capital city of Queensland is Brisbane and is located in the south-east corner of the state, where the population is concentrated.
With its warm weather, Queensland is often nicknamed ‘the Sunshine State’. It is also called the ‘holiday state’, as it offers many stunning and relaxing destinations. Among them are Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef with its amazing marine life, Surfers Paradise, the Gold coast and many beautiful islands off the coast. The Whitsunday Islands, Fraser Island and the Torres Strait Islands are very popular.
In Queensland, visitors can enjoy a large range of beaches and water activities, as well as lush rainforest in beautiful National Parks like Daintree and Cape Tribulation.
