Blue Mountains

World Heritage Listed National Park just 90 km's from Sydney

New South Wales, Australia, are situated approximately 100 kilometres west of Sydney. They are a range of sandstone geological structures that reach to at least 1,190 metres AHD (in the Lithgow area). The Blue Mountains are not as the name suggests a range of mountains but rather a series of cliffs surrounding a plateau with rugged eroded gorges of up to 760 metres depth. A large majority of the Blue Mountains is incorporated in the Greater Blue Mountains Area World Heritage Site and its constituent seven national parks and a conservation reserve.

Many Blue Mountain Tours depart from Sydney, Most day tours visit the famous Three Sisters formation and the scenic railway. Try and find a tour that visits the Grose Valley or does a little hiking.  I night stay in the Blue Mountains would be a desirable itinerary if you have hte time.  Hiking is probably the most popular activity in the Blue Mountains also Climbing, Abseiling, 4wd tours can be booked by local tour operators.
