Uluru / Ayers Rock
day tours
Uluru, also called Ayers Rock is a true icon for Australia and is located in the southern part of the Northern territory, in central Australia. It is a large sandstone formation, standing 348m high (1,142 ft) and a circumference of 9.4km (5.8 mi). Uluru and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) are the two significant features of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The aboriginal people of the area, the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, consider Uluru as sacred. Uluru is listed as a World Heritage Site for its natural and man-made attributes. Ancient paintings can be seen on the monolith. Special viewing areas have been constructed to enable tourists to enjoy the best sunset and sunrise views of both Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
